How Long Does It Take To Install A Roof

How Long Does It Take to Install a Roof. The roof of your home acts as a big shield to protect you and your home interior from different weather calamities and other issues, so it is important to install the roof right with good roofing materials. The very first question that arises when we talk about installing a roof is how long does it take to install?

Installing a roof isn’t easy as it involves a lot of skill and knowledge gained from experience. Depending upon the experience a roof installer has, the installation duration might reduce.

It involves a great deal of physical work, yet the installation period can be influenced and vary by some factors such as weather, availability of the materials used and personnel.

For the residential homes, the roofs can be installed in a day or two, considering the arrival of the roofing materials on the previous day of the installation itself.

This means that you can’t expect the roof to be done on the same day as you request. The size of the roof also decides the installation period, as bigger the roof, the longer it takes to install the roof. On the other hand, commercial roofing might take a few weeks to complete the entire project.

Approximately, the time for installing a roof can differ based on the size, complexity, such as the peaks and parts of the roof and the type of roof you require for your sweet home. Some of the other factors that affect the length of time it takes to install a new roof are:

Weather

Extreme weather conditions can pose a threat to the installation process. Especially places like Florida, where the weather conditions are unpredictable, the roof installers find it hard to get the job done at ease extending the length of installing a new roof.

Also, certain materials such as the foam adhesives that are used to install new roof tiles aren’t functional during the cold weather. Hence it is important to have a monitor on the weather conditions to let the installation process go smoothly.

Materials and Crew availability

Roof tiles are not always in stock; hence it is advisable to book in advance to get the materials at the right time of installation. Materials and crew availability don’t affect the length of the installation, yet it is important to be aware as the manufacturing time of the materials can sometimes take longer than the expected time and less labor can delay the work process. Some of the roofing types used are:

Wood shakes  3 – 4 days Steel sheets 3 – 4 days
Synthetic Slate 3 – 5 days Asphalt shingles 1 – 2 days
Flat roof 2 – 3 days Natural Slate 6 – 7 days
Concrete Tile 8 – 9 days

The installed roof needs to be inspected depending upon the municipality. The inspection process and the permit revision might also affect the length of installation of a new roof as a complication in these procedures can cause more delays. Though it takes a long time, it is evident that your roof will last for decades to keep you safe and sound inside your sweet home.
